I am planning to go to phuket for a week, staying at the boat lagoon resort, has anybody stayed there, pls?

Is it worth to hire a car in phuket any suggestions

My wife and I stayed in Patong Beach at the Thara Patong Beach Resort. Great location, clean accommodations, friendly and competent staff, pick-up/drop-off was included in our price, and about 5 minute walk to the beach (about 200 meters from the hotel).

Many restaurants all around it, good pubs nearby, shopping nearby, nightlife about 10 minutes walking distance (southward) (note: more Katoeys than in Pattaya), easy access to the beach (no obstacles).

We didn’t hire a car for our time there, we used the baht buses around Patong, and also to Karon Beach and Phuket City Mall.

We were on holiday so we don’t know about internet service, room service; but housekeeping was efficient. Breakfast was buffet style and well stocked (included in our price).

One tip: avoid the Rock Lobsters in the restaurants – they were too small for my appetite; I chose the “regular” lobsters and huge prawns for my daily meals along with local dishes. Note: the local flavors in Phuket are vastly different from Pattaya’s local restaurants (not the tourist restaurants).

Regardless of where you rest your head, you’re bound to have a great holiday in Phuket.

Am looking for some clean safe inexpensive guest house, hotel or apartment room in Patong Phuket Thailand?

looking to stay 2 months in the period Feb 08 to April 08.
Nanai Road or vicinity preferable.

My friend stayed at Ferb Guesthouse on a Soi a block off Nanai and central, near Jungceylon and 5 minutes from Bangla Rd. for a month. She loved it. It was clean comfortable and modern. I visited her there and it was very nice with bar and restaurant. By far the nicest of the guesthouses. I believe she paid about 17000 baht (give or take) for the month.
